Multiverses Instead of God as Cause

I saw a movie trailer of a film on the relationship of Stephen Hawking and his wife. Mr. Hawking is a famous theoretical scientist. The trailer triggered my memory of a proposition made by Mr. Hawking. He said that the tweaking, honing, and perfection responsible for the order in our universe can be explained because of the existence of other universes.

What he means is that with such an infinite number of universes, one of them necessarily is expected to have orderly conditions that would support intelligent life. The problem with this assertion is that it’s just that; an assertion. There hasn’t been any scientific discovery nor evidence produced as a foundation for such a claim. It’s amazing isn’t it— the lengths of the byways that some will take in order to get around the idea that it takes a mind to conceive and execute a plan that includes intelligent order.

The structure of the cosmos that supports earth’s logistical placement in it, clearly implies that the causation came from a mind. The universe, noted by science, is fine-tuned to the point that if any of the variables that support life – like gravity – were off by just an nth of a degree, intelligent life could not exist. The universe is so precise that it is ridiculous to think it was formed by chance. On top of that, the study of DNA shows that intelligence is the driving force behind the complex and specified information found in this universe.

I pray that the brilliance of Mr. Hawking and of other like-minded individuals, taken to such great lengths, will soon finally bump into an impenetrable, omnipresent wall constructed of obvious ridiculousness. May their intellect then rebound and come to accept the obvious intellect displayed in the designed order of our universe. May they embrace that intellect as God, the One whose “invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made” (Romans 1: 19, 20).
